PROTECTEA LTD. Tea catechins, which are abundantly contained in Japanese tea, are widely known as useful substances that exhibit various physiological activities such as antiviral, antibacterial, deodorant and antioxidant. Dr. Kaihatsu, a former associate professor at the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka University, paid attention to this tea catechin and succeeded in developing a new type of tea catechin "CateProtect" technology that dramatically improves antiviral and antibacterial effects by binding lipophilic components. CateProtect showed 10 times more effective against influenza virus and norovirus (feline calicivirus), and furthermore demonstrated inhibitory effects on the growth of more than 30 species of bacteria and fungi.
